About: My Mission Statement

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Sarina Gupta and I am a rising sophomore at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Throughout my childhood, I was fortunate enough to travel around the world with my parents and engage in various medical camps with them.

These experiences have opened my eyes and exposed me to the lack of health care options for many people in various regions of the world. For the first time in my life I desire to deeply explore the intricacies of these medical issues on my own in order to learn from a different angle; from my own experiences. SaDilKa, the nonprofit medical organization that I founded, allows me to bring to fruition a harmonious blend of my passions: travel, charity work, and medicine. Furthermore, traveling to a third world country enables me to obtain a hands-on experience and make a direct impact on the health and livelihood of those who are less fortunate than I am.  At my pre-medical level, students like me often find it difficult to obtain such an experience in a first-world country. I also strive to inspire my peers and colleagues to join me in my missions so that the spirit of volunteer work can be promulgated.

This blog is my way of sharing this journey with you. For my first trip I am off to Tanzania, Africa.  Keep reading so you can experience this wonderful journey with me!

Upon returning from Tanzania, I am interning at Columbia University Medical Center (New York Presbyterian) in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.  I will be conducting research experiements in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Argenziano, a head cardiac surgeon, as well as observing and hopefully assisting in cardiothoracic operations.

I am excited to embark on my journeys while simultaneously gaining imperative knowledge about the medical field!
